Orfeus - five quick questions:
Education: The Carl Nielsen Academy of Music, Odense/The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus
Instruments and repertoire: Classical guitar, renaissance lute, song and hand percussion. All genres of music ranging from the Middle Ages to present time.
Tour: We performed in Poland, Sweden and Spain and all over Denmark - and we are of course happy and always prepared to go wherever job opportunities present themselves.
Characteristics: We decided fairly quickly to expand our concert repertoire to involve other elements than ‘just’ music. Our first project was H.C. Andersen’s “The Swineherd” which was tested on different pilot audiences in 2001. After that we started experimenting with costumes and video animations. The music tale has therefore always been our own special characteristic.
ORFEUS on the road: In order to find new inspiration for developing our ideas, we spent 2003 travelling the Nordic countries. We went from Malmo across Stockholm, to Oslo and Gothenburg to meet other artists and potential new partners. In 2004, we went to Andalucia to examine the Manuel de Falla archives, take in the atmosphere and find out what el duende really means. This trip resulted in the music tale “Dark Love” with lyrics by Lorca. Next stop?
